In the era of COVID and lockdowns, having your own house is like a god-sent. Thankfully, most, if not all, celebs have really nice cribs filled with stuffed garages, swimming pools, and home cinemas, so you know they’re having the best time of their life. Sometimes living in the same luxurious villa is just too tiresome, and the stars decide it’s time to move on to a different location. That’s just how real estate works.
Here are the most expensive celebrity villas sold in 2021.
1. Shaquille O’Neal — Florida Compound ($11 million)
Shaq bought his iconic crib in 1993 for less than $4 million, and almost 30 years later, it was put up on the market for $28 mil. Sadly, that was a huge overestimation, and the Florida house with 12 bedrooms, a home theater, and marble floors was eventually sold for a measly $11 mil.
2. Justin Bieber — Beverly Hills Mansion ($8 million)
In 2019, JB posted photos of his Beverly Hills villa on Instagram and asked if anyone would like to buy it. Again, on the Instagram. Almost a year ago, in February, someone did finally pay $8 mil for that crib. It was a great flip, considering Bieber bought that 6000-square-foot mansion with five bedrooms and a wine cellar for just $500k.
3. Tim McGraw and Faith Hill — Island in the Bahamas ($35 million)
What do you do with a 20-acre island? Plant seeds? Raise cattle? Or maybe build a 6000-square-foot house with four bedrooms? It’s funny how you can buy an island, but you’ll still need to build all the facilities. That probably includes things like the docks and toilets. So it’s no wonder Tim and Faith were willing to sell their piece of paradise. I’d take indoor plumbing over four bedrooms any day of the week!
4. Margot Robbie — Los Angeles House ($3.4 million)
In 2017 Margot Robbie spent $2.7 mil on the house in Hancock Park. Four years later, she decided to flip it for $3.4 mil. Why? Were the bedrooms not big enough? Or maybe the pet room was too boring? How about that high-tech kitchen? Whatever the reason was, Robbie did not want to live there anymore.
5. Gene Simmons — Los Angeles House ($2 million)
Legendary Kiss member, Gene Simmons, bought a fantastic house for $1.4 mil in 2013. The Laurel Canyon estate is a 2,300-square-feet property with three floors, four bedrooms, and incredible panoramic views. But in 2020, Simmons put the mansion up for sale for $2.2 million and still had to lower the price in February. That’s just a bad investment.
6. The Weeknd — Los Angeles House ($19.3 million)
The Weeknd acquired his new home in 2017 for $18 million but decided to get rid of it four years later, putting up a 25 mil price tag. In April of 2021, Madonna made him an offer, and he folded. She paid 19.3 mil for the 12,000-square-foot house with seven bedrooms, a pool, cool spa, basketball court, and a wine cellar.
7. Dustin Johnson — Mansion in Florida ($16 million)
World-renowned golf champion, Dustin Johnson, would never feel comfortable couped up in an apartment. That’s why he bought himself a massive mansion in Palm Beach Gardens for $5 million. Over 13,000-square-foot area on a private island with a boat ramp, a pool, and enough bedrooms to host the Kardashians — all that was a bit overwhelming for the athlete, so he decided to sell it. Nobody needs that much space.
8. Tom Cruise — Ranch in Colorado ($39.5 million)
After living in his mansion in Telluride for 28 years, Tom Cruise decided to sell it for a bit under $40 mil this year. The whole local area rejoiced as they watched Cruise move out of his humble 10,000-square-foot abode with a spa, a tennis court, and a two-bedroom guesthouse.
