Every parent inevitably embarrasses their child at some point. This moment has come for Barron Trump. Even though he’s way taller than his dad and turned 18 earlier in 2024, Donald has confirmed that his son is still very much a mama’s boy. Other first-year college students are out exploring their independence and partying, but Barron tends to stay right by his mother Melania’s side. When he’s not avidly studying for his NYU courses, that is. And, we suppose, when Melania is busy!
Donald exposed his son for being a mama’s boy at a rally during his 2024 presidential campaign. As he often does, Donald boasted about his youngest son Barron’s sharp intellect and his ability to provide insightful campaign advice.
Speaking to the crowd, he referred to his son as “a guy who’s at home with the First Lady” and went on to say, “He’s very smart, he got into a great college, he’s 18 years old. He gives me good advice, ‘Dad, take it easy now. You don’t have to get too excited here.’ He’s very wise.”
In addition to seeking advice from his father about his future plans, he successfully persuaded Donald Trump to participate in Joe Rogan’s podcast. This decision boosted the Trump campaign to new heights and was one of the factors that led him to secure another term in the Oval Office.
A look into Barron’s off-campus life
This advice isn’t exactly fascinating, but do you know what is? The fact that when Barron’s not in class, he chooses to hang out with Melania. He’s decided to reside at the Trump Tower rather than living in the dorms like most kids. We’d bet he’s had more cozy nights at home with his mom than hitting up fraternity parties and spending time with kids his age.
Barron chooses to be with Melania all the time
Space is helpful for every relationship, but apparently, Barron and Melania didn’t get the memo. Despite being a college kid who’s meant to spread his wings, Melania doesn’t see herself as an empty nester, and she’s technically not since her son still lives at home.
Instead of being surrounded by his peers, he decided to stay home. Melania said in an interview with Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt, “It was his decision to come here, that he wants to be in New York and study in New York and live in his home, and I respect that.”
The question is…did she respect it, or did she convince him? That said, because of how different his life is from his peers, he wouldn’t have exactly the same lifestyle as other 18- or 19-year-olds. It would be impossible to blend in, and perhaps this is another reason why he decided to stay at home. After all, he still has a few years to go!
Still, when Trump is inaugurated, will Barron finally flex his independence and live in the dorms? Will he make the far commute from Manhattan every day? Or will he decide to go a little closer to Washington, D.C? It’s all up in the air, but according to a source close to the family who spoke to People, Melania isn’t letting up on her motherly duties anytime soon.
The insider said, “Melania will keep her hand on Barron’s future just as much going forward as she has throughout his early and current school years.”
They added, “He is her world. She is proud of him, and she is the primary decision maker on Barron and his future.” So, whether it’s NYU or Pennsylvania Avenue, Melania’s not letting go of her hands-on mom approach anytime soon.
