People around the world love following the lives of their favorite celebs. Sometimes we get a saucy scoop about their love life or some new island they bought, but when it comes to the circumstances of their death, there may be plenty of room for speculation. Many mysterious deaths are still unsolved, but people are still talking about them to this day.
Let’s have a look at eight of the most mysterious celebrity deaths.
1. Bruce Lee
Bruce Lee, the legendary martial artist and movie star, died from cerebral edema in 1973. Before passing away, Lee took painkillers given to him by his co-star Betty Ting Pei. Bruce Lee fans still refuse to believe that some puny pills could have killed the invincible martial artist. There are rumors that by the time the actor took the medicine, the poison mixed in with the food was already coursing through his body. Rumors say his death was a hit ordered by the Yakuza.
2. Kurt Cobain
The most mysterious death of the 20th century has to be the death of Kurt Cobain — the cult grunge icon and lead singer of Nirvana. Kurt’s body was found in his apartment in April 1994, and according to the official version, it was a suicide. However, Cobain’s fans and widow Courtney Love were confused by some circumstances: the suicide note written by the musician’s hand looked more like a message about the end of his career, and traces of wiped fingerprints were found on the gun that Cobain allegedly used to shoot himself. We may never know the truth.
3. Heath Ledger
Heath Ledger passed away on January 22, 2008, under very bizarre circumstances. He was found at home on the floor, surrounded by pills. Some of them were prescribed; others were not. Ledger’s close friends noted that the artist used to buy pills in bulk. He did not leave a suicide note. Fans have speculated that Ledger was fully consumed by the role of the Joker in The Dark Knight that it gradually began to drive him crazy.
4. Marilyn Monroe
The official version of Marilyn Monroe’s death is an overdose of barbiturates, but there are way too many inconsistencies for that to be true. There is a theory that Monroe was killed by the Kennedy brothers — just two of many different flings she had. Some theories claim that it wasn’t at all about their jealousy but rather her knowledge of some top-secret political info. Marilyn may have been a sex symbol, but she did talk a lot so that at least makes sense.
5. Whitney Houston
Whitney Houston died in a hotel room at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles on February 1. Her own aunt found the singer unconscious in the bathroom of a hotel room, but all attempts to revive her were futile. Later it was discovered that Houston drowned in the bathtub after passing out due to the simultaneous use of strong alcohol, antidepressants, marijuana, and a dose of cocaine. However, forensic experts found bruises and abrasions on the star’s body. In addition to that, the hotel’s surveillance cameras showed a man entering Houston’s room shortly before the estimated time of her death. Unfortunately, the identity of the potential killer could not be established, and the case was closed.
6. Elvis Presley
The king of rock and roll returned to his estate on August 16, 1977, to make big plans for the future, and talk about the upcoming engagement and his tour. Merely a few hours later, Presley’s lover found his lifeless body on the bathroom floor.
The police stated that the cause of death was an overdose of a sedative, but the fans believe that it was either drugs or murder. Some crazy conspiracy theorists think that the musician staged his own death in order to escape the deafening fame.
7. James Dean
James Dean became famous thanks to three films that were released in the year of his tragic death. On September 30, 1955, Dean drove his new Porsche 550 “Spyder” onto the highway and collided with another car at high speed, almost head-on. The actor’s friend in the passenger seat broke his jaw, the other driver did not even need hospitalization, but James Dean died 10 minutes after the car crash. His last words were: “This guy should have stopped… He saw us.”
8. Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur
And lastly, we have a double feature: Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. Both rappers were shot dead six months apart, and their killers were never found. Shakur was shot in September 1996 in Las Vegas. According to the reports, police officer Chris Carroll, who tried to talk to the dying Tupac in the hospital, asked who shot him, but Shakur responded with three letters. Six months later, on March 9, 1997, Notorious B.I.G was shot dead in Los Angeles. The police assumed that this was a revenge hit for the murder of Tupac, which Biggie was suspected of orchestrating. But officially, this crime remains unsolved.
