When the movie “Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events” was released in 2004, Liam Aiken was the movie’s leading star, playing a 12-year-old orphan called Klaus Baudelaire whose house burned down. Oddly enough, Aiken’s own house burned down while promoting the movie. Before “Lemony Snicket,” he starred in the heart-wrenching film “Step Mom” with Susan Sarandon.
Even at a young age, the actor’s East Coast upbringing gave him a mature point of view that led to dark and moody roles like the character Klaus. Born to an Irish artist and an MTV producer, Aiken’s career started when he was six years old in “A Doll’s House.” But where is the star today?
Although he was born in New Jersey, as many actors do, he ended up on the West Coast in adulthood. After his skyrocketing to fame in the early 2000s, Aiken graduated from Dwight-Englewood School in 2008 and moved to Los Angeles.
In 2021, Aiken appeared in director Nickson Fong’s movie “Bashira.” He played an electronic musician who was dealing with strange and terrifying nightmares. His recent work also includes the 2020 movie “The Bloodhood,” which was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s work “The Fall of the House of Usher.”
He’s also thriving as a musician. In January 2024, he released a track called Starling on Bandcamp, which is described as experimental electronic music. “Bashira” must have inspired him! There are images of him DJing on social media, showing off his musical side.
Beyond appearing in movies, he also did voice work for video games and narrated audiobooks. Although there isn’t much information about the actor online, people can get a sneak peek at his life on his Instagram. It is unknown if he has a partner or is married. Aiken reportedly has a net worth of over $2 million as of 2021.
He’s a self-proclaimed Manchester United fan, as this post from the summer of 2023 shows.
He also posted an homage to Tina Turner, who his late father worked with back when he was a producer at MTV. Aiken’s father passed away when Aiken was only two years old.
He likes to go to Montauk in Long Island, New York, to soak up sunny beach days in the summertime. Earlier that summer, he screened his movie “Soldiers Heart” at the Montauk Film Festival, which he created during the pandemic.
He’s a dog dad, as this adorable post of his pup Nico shows. Nico even has his own Instagram page and rocks some very stylish looks!
He often uses his page as a form of activism to remind people to vote and to stand up for those in need around the world. It’s also known that he makes donations to support the causes that he believes in.
Although many people simply see him as Klaus, the reality is that he’s done so much more since that role two decades ago.
